- This pinback button radiates pride in residing in Anacostia, the southeast Washington, DC community that the Anacostia Neighborhood Museum calls home. The white-and-blue button features the Museum’s logo, which, in a nod to the Smithsonian’s sun logo, centers a sunburst around the Museum’s initials. The logo also celebrates the local, as it was created by the Museum’s Research and Design Coordinator, Larry Erskine Thomas (1917-1986), an artist and educator whose career began during the Harlem Renaissance. Public sales of the button supported the Museum’s Youth Advisory Council.
