- This is a container to hold the sextant used in the Department of Defense D9 experiment successfully conducted during the Gemini IV and VII missions. The experiment developed data on observable phenomena and procedures which could be used for manual spacecraft navigation. The calculated uncertainity from the sextant sightings was less than the spacecraft position computed from radar tracking data. This container was not flown in space. It is not known who made it. NASA transferred the container to NASM in 1968.
