- A poster advertising a memorial at Wounded Knee in 1973.
- This striking red poster commemorates the three-day memorial event marking the fifth anniversary of the 1973 Wounded Knee occupation. At the top, bold white lettering announces, “MEMORIAL/ FEBRUARY 25-27 ‘78/ PORCUPINE, S.D.” At the center of the poster is an eight-pointed Morning Star. To the left of the star is black lettering in lower case, “the american indiana movement of pine ridge reservation invite all wounded knee veterans and members of AIM for three days of ceremony and celebration.” To the right of the star in black letter is the following, in capital letters: “IN HONOR OF BUDDY LAMONT/ PEDRO BISSONETTE/ AND ALL/ INDIAN/ POLITICAL PRISONERS.” At the bottom of the poster, a black line drawing depicts a silhouette of a crowd and a fist rising from the earth holding a pipe with a feather, symbolizing indigenous resistance and sovereignty. Below this drawing, on the right side, is the artist’s signature: “Barbara M. Cameron, Hunkpapa.”
- On the other side of the poster is the return address of the American Indian Treaty Council Information Center in San Francisco, California. The postmark is from 1978.
